Thomas Hoffman, M.A.Ed.

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa. In 1996, I moved to Sandusky , Ohio to work as a beach lifeguard at Cedar Point. I spent 4 years working at Cedar Point in various positions which inlcuded Lifeguard, Pool Technician, and Supervisor. In 2001, I accepted a position as Area Manager of Aquatics at the Great Bear Lodge in Sandusky, Ohio. While managing the 33,000 sq ft indoor waterpark, I began to pursue my associates degree in Digital Media Technology at Terra Community College.
After completing my work in 3d Animation and Web Design, I was offered a job as a CAD Drafter for Didion's Mechanical, an ASME Pressure Vessel fabrication shop. For a little over three years I created various blueprints for the welders, machinists, and fabricators who build boilders, heat exchangers, autoclaves, and stokers. It was at this time that I also began to teach part time digital media at Terra State.
As I found a great interest in education, I decided to pursue my Bachelors in Advanced Technological Education at Bowling Green State University. When I graduated in 2010, I was offered a tenure-track full-time position at Terra at as Instructor.
In 2012, I was promoted to Assistant Professor of Digital media shortly after I completed my Masters of Arts Education through Heidelberg University. I found an immediate need to continue my education and follow through with my new passion - instructional design. Curretly I am in my third year of the Educational Media PhD Program in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Toledo.
